The Hybrid Working Model has its Own Pros & Cons

Listen to this article

The hybrid model combines both on-site and remote working in more efficient ways, especially in the post-COVID era. Experts believe employers and employees are utilizing and enjoying this effective model. However, one of the experts said employers should determine that it has now become the default approach for most.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Motion Infusion, Laura Putnam, said the company is experiencing an increase in productivity levels. She believes there was supposedly some unfamiliarity in getting to work from home with the brand-new independence and self-determination. But we are now beginning to continue the experience on this path as the company’s productivity levels are significantly decreasing.

However, most of the study explains how workers utilized opportunities to work at home. Putnam added that these opportunities aren’t going to finish. She also pointed out that the engagement levels of workers are the most critical factor among various others. The engagement level of the company increased at the outset of the epidemic, which is more interesting and surprising.

The Efficient Levels of Engagement are Essential

Putnam said the levels of engagement declined to historic lows amid a continued pandemic and the murder of George Floyd. It clearly indicates the company’s engagement levels went to historic lows after marking historic highs. Moreover, the hybrid model has shown its effectiveness and the way forward for one company to get benefits.

The Chief People Officer of Zoom, Matthew Saxon, issued a statement. He said the employees are allowed to select their desired work style in the company’s future-of-work model. This approach has provided a remarkable achievement of remote work to the company and isn’t considered for the office re-opening process. Meanwhile, the company is gradually merging it as a portion of its hybrid model.

Zoom’s Sales Increased 326% to $2.6 Billion in 2020

Saxon also claimed that the company’s sales increased 326% to $2.6 billion in 2020. He said the company is constantly learning and adjusting to develop an attractive program. However, bringing employees and teams together has its own importance and benefits. He said leaders need to establish an environment to boost performance and productivity.

An improved working environment can enhance team collaboration and support contributing to a powerful infrastructure of the company. It clearly indicates a hybrid or entirely remote work is more effective for some organizations. But others can achieve their objective only through an in-person working environment. He said it is essential to test and learn each company’s work and their employees.

Listening can Develop Trust Between Employers and Employees

Meanwhile, listening to employees is a top priority for a company. It would efficiently develop mutual trust between the company’s leaders, employers, and workers. A company must discuss with employees more potential plans and hurdles in decisions. Their listening and specific feedback can offer an efficient way to maintain a deeper trust.

The preference of employees and a more efficient working environment ensure clear transparency with return-to-office policies. However, the old companion continues to be taken with the old ways. It would keep stumbling back to its previous way. Forrester also issued Future of Work predictions for 2023. The predictions have indicated that around 4 in 10 hybrid working firms will attempt to stop anywhere work option.

Leaders Could Transform their Return-to-Office Approach

Moreover, the principal analyst at Forrester, J.P. Gownder, issued a statement. He said the predictions showed around 50% of leaders are expected to significantly modify their return-to-office approach in 2023. However, employers are experiencing a massive impact with the constant talent shortage and unintentionally moving to old approaches. Gownder said most employers weren’t too quick to finish remote working conditions.

Meanwhile, two-thirds of firms have softened their policies than pre-COVID measures. Some leaders considered old lessons learned in their long careers amid the economic performance and the company’s struggle results. The data confirms employees were more productive at home compared to average work. So, the hybrid work model approach remarkably improves confidence and productivity.
