The wife of former vice president (Joe Biden), Dr. Jill Biden said that a once close friendship with the South Carolina politician Lindsey Graham has been torn to bits following the impeachment efforts against the U.S President Donald Trump. Dr. Biden delivered her words speaking with CNN. She said that Graham’s comments about her family have been hurtful, and she and her husband were once great friends with the U.S Senator. She added they once traveled together and dined together, things have now changed. Mrs. Biden said, “Now, he’s changed. I don’t know what happened to Lindsey. It’s hard when you consider somebody a friend and then they’ve said so many negative things. That’s been a little hurtful”.

Mrs. Biden’s comments came after repeated attacks by Republicans during the impeachment effort. They urged the U.S Senate to bring forward Hunter Biden as a witness. Trump has found himself facing the impeachment trial in part due to his efforts to pressurize the newly elected Ukrainian President into investigating the former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter.  Biden’s son was given a seat on the board of a Ukrainian energy company when his father was in charge of Ukraine policy. Mrs. Biden laughed when asked about efforts to bring Hunter to testify.

Jill Biden said, “Hunter has done nothing wrong. Why would Hunter be called? Donald Trump should be before that committee”. It is noteworthy that Lindsey Graham has advanced into a Trump’s passionate supporter. He was once being a vocal critic of the man during the 2016 election. The rise to power of the President has been marked by deeper partisan divides in Washington. There are many Republicans and Democrats seeing the damage done as potentially irreparable. Biden has maintained a belief that he could unite Republicans and Democrats if he becomes the U.S President, in spite of criticism that it wasn’t during the Barack Obama Presidency.
