US President Donald Trump has shared a video of a white couple pointing guns at protesters in St Louis. Protesters were marching to the mayor’s house and demanding her resignation. The video clip has shown the unidentified pair standing outside their home. The woman was pointing a handgun at the crowd. A man (supposedly her husband) is seen holding a rifle. So, the protest organizers moved the crowd forward and urged protesters to ignore them. Point to be noted that the group of more than 500 people were protesting and marching towards the home of the mayor, Lyda Krewson. They were chanting, “Resign Lyda, take the cops with you”.

It is noteworthy that she had apologized after she read-out the names and addresses of residents who had written to her about defunding the police. A spokesperson said, “She’s apologized, acknowledges she made a mistake and has absolutely no intention of resigning”. There are more than 44,000 people had now signed a petition calling on Krewson to resign after she endangered the lives of protesters by releasing their names and addresses. The petition also condemns the St Louis’ mayor over her support for police funding amid nationwide calls to abolish and defund police departments after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis police custody on 25th May 2020.

The petition also said, “She is an abysmal leader and complacent in a white supremacist agenda thus holding St. Louis back from progress. To alleviate community relations we demand that Mayor Krewson should resign from office and a special election be held to replace her”. The State representative Rasheen Aldridge informed protesters and said, ”As a leader, you don’t do stuff like that it’s only right that we visit her at her home”. More than 100,000 people have since viewed the same video shared by Donald Trump. The video came after Trump retweeted a video in which a Trump supporter was shouting White Power at protesters in Florida.
