The U.S House Intelligence Committee has released its draft impeachment report. The committee is investigating the case that Donald Trump abused his power for personal gain by withholding congressionally approved U.S military to Ukraine. The report formally passes the investigation to the House Judiciary Committee. It also alleges the White House of attempting to subvert the impeachment process. But, the effort ultimately failed after several high-profile American diplomats and foreign-service officials testified during marathon hearings in the month of November. The House gathered overwhelming evidence of his misconduct from courageous individuals who were willing to follow the law, in spite of President Trump’s unprecedented and categorical commands.

The President in response engaged in a brazen effort to publicly attack and intimidate these witnesses. The House Intelligence Committee presented a report of 300 pages including two main sections. One section offered details of Trumps’ alleged abuse of power in Ukraine and another section was alleging obstruction. The president is alleged of withholding that security assistance in spite of attempts by Ukrainians to enquire about the money. It was considered a key to American interests and keeping Russian aggression at bay. The document indicates the effort to compel Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to initiate the investigations.

An elaborate establishment of an unusual alternate diplomatic channel was included that bypassed normal State Department procedures. It was started after a whistleblower complaint was filed, indicating unease with the way in which Trump spoke to Zelensky during a 25 July phone call between the two leaders. The document claims have been corroborated by witnesses who have testified before the committee. They informed the House that the efforts were understood at the highest level of the Trump administration, including acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and secretary of Energy Rick Perry. The EU ambassador Gordon Sondland also testified during impeachment testimony. He said it was well understood that Trump was demanding a quid pro quo from Zelensky.
