U.S President Donald Trump was slammed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for what she called his resistance to do much more to protect medical workers from affecting coronavirus. She also raised concerns regarding doctors being told, in some areas, to make abrupt life-and-death decisions, and panned the president for not doing more to ramp up testing faster. Pelosi said, “We’re asking people to make judgment on who gets a ventilator. That should not be happening”. She did applaud Trump for reversing his decision course on opening parts of the country by 12th April 2020. Pelosi said there will be more deaths without such changes by Trump administration.

Pelosi was asked on Morning Joe, if Congress has any responsibility over the slow and uneven federal response for the epidemic in the United States. She replied; none at all. But, President Trump and Republicans have criticized her view for holding up by few days or a week a $2.2 trillion economic recovery bill that Trump signed into law on Friday. The GOP negotiators have claimed she came into the talks at the last minute and insisted on a number of items for her far-left faction. On Monday, Trump said, “Well, you know, it’s a sad thing. Look, she’s a sick puppy, in my opinion. She really is. She’s got a lot of problems. So they have the House. So they come into us at the last minute, Pelosi, we actually had a deal done with Schumer and everybody”.

Trump was referring to the U.S Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer. He said, “It was really a much better visually, a much better deal”. Pelosi also blamed President Trump for not listening to his scientific team earlier. She confirmed that the U.S Congress has been a force in responding to the widespread coronavirus. Trump has called the legislative branch too slow and focused on politics. Pelosi said the U.S Congress can just go as fast as the signature. It clearly indicates Trump’s negotiators being clear on what he would and would not sign. Trump said she upends negotiations with late demands. She contends that rather than spending time on the president, because he will do what he does and lawmakers will have to be guided by science.
