A Massive Fire at 63-story Address Hotel in Dubai for New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display

The Address Hotel in Dubai Mall has been evacuated and a large number of people were moved at nearby location. The fire started at 9:30pm on the 20th floor of the £600 per night hotel and this fire took hold the entire building within few minutes. This 5-star hotel is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world and it is near to the Burj Al Khalifa. This hotel is 2,722 feet high and most famous in British tourists. The New Year’s fireworks took place despite burst into flames. It was unclear that what would happen with the structure of the building with continuous flames. Official also said that at least 15 people hurt with minor injuries and some had heart attack by smoke and overcrowding.

Father of 27-years old Angus Villar alerted about fire and she escaped with her wheelchair. Her father said that “I saw flames on the balcony and I thought it is a prank or joke, but when I saw next door to us, it was completely on fire. We immediately escaped from the building and there were a large number of people running into the corridors with uncontrollable fear. This hotel has residential compounds of 200 rooms and more than 600 apartments. The media office of the Dubai government said that there were 4 firefighting brigades in order to ensure the safety of the people. Reports indicated that fire was under control as this fire covered at least 20 stories of the building of Address Hotel. At least 400,000 LED lights and 106 tons of fireworks was used for this display. The event took place on the skyline of the city as it was set to celebrate New Year’s event at night.
