Political Changes in Iraq

Dec 27, 2012
Listen to this article

The political changes in Iraq were quite abrupt when the leader Saddam Hussein was executed and the new government took over. The government had to face a lot of different attitudes from the public because Saddam Hussein had a lot of people in his favor at the time of his execution and there were several people who thought that they could throw over the new government as well.

This was something really hard to manage as the parliament of the government was biased. Saddam Hussein was thrown over in 2003 and in January 2005 the parliamentary election was held to elect the 275 member parliamentary committee which would be the judge of the government and help it as well for the well being of the country.

However in spite of the government trying its level best to stabilize the country through the political changes in Iraq it has been named as the ‘most corrupt country’ of the Middle East. Although the country has the US army within it still it has not been able to stabilize the economic condition nor has it been able to prevent the corruption in the country.

The political changes in Iraq were trying to be changed again in 2010 when the parliament elections were held again. This time the parliament members were increased to 325 and they were supposed to elect the president of the country. After a long war of trying to see if the elections were fair or not and with the Supreme Court plays its part the final decision was made to make Talabani continue being the President of the country while Noor AlMaliki remained the Prime minister and Ayad Allawi would be the leader of a new security council.

This political government started to lead the state fro November 11, 2011 and is ruling impressively up till now. It is also trying to make the political conditions of the country better so that things get better altogether for Iraq including all its 18 states.
