A massive amount of cache has been posted online by CIA. It contains at least 12 million declassified pages of CIA. It includes information about Nazi War crimes, UFO sightings, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Human Telepathy (Project Stargate) and various others. In the past, Bill Clinton had ordered to be declassified at least 25-years old entire documents with historical value in the year 1995. The agency obeyed, but didn’t originally make it easy to see the cache. You needed to follow all the way to the U.S National Archives in Washington to get the entire cache. Now, the CIA had provided an electronic database “CIA Records Search Tool” CREST in the year 2000. But, you were just able to search document titles and still needed to visit archives to view each document.

A nonprofit journalism organization “MuckRock” filed a lawsuit FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) in 2014. This law pressurized the CIA to publish its entire documents online, but the agency stressed that it might take at least 6 years for scanning everything. Buzzfeed also pointed out that the “Kickstarter” campaign was started by a journalist Michael Best for fund raising to manually copy & scan the documents. Finally, the CIA had shown its willingness last year to publish its entire database online and now the agency is fulfilling its promise in a best manner. The CIA Director of Information Management, Joseph Lambert said that the agency has made the final check of collection prior to release it and they will not reclassify more documents. Now, people will be able to find more info regarding war buffs, UFO sightings and many more.
