New Rules will be imposed by the U.S Airlines on Smart Bags

Travelers might experience a tough time in collecting their bags on a plane very soon. It is due to specific safety measures regarding their batteries. The CNN also reported that the American, Alaska, and Delta Airlines have declared that they are looking to start checking of smart-luggage of passengers from 15th January 2018. The checking process will remove the lithium-ion batteries or they might keep them powered-off during traveling in the airplane. Its official website also indicated that Southwest and United Continental Airlines have planned to declare many similar policies very soon. CNN also reported that they sustain at least 80% of the U.S air traffic.

The report also indicated that a smart-bag manufacturer “Blue-smart” said that they have a compliant with current regulations, and asked to mention that whose lithium batteries will not be removed. Blue-smart also indicated that they are saddened by these latest updates and changes in the regulations of some airlines. The Company also said that they should consider a step back not just to secure travel technology, but it also presents a hurdle in streamlining and enhancing the way of travel,” the company said in a statement given to CNN. Safety around lithium-ion batteries has been a topic of concern lately, with the FAA recently proposing a ban on laptops in checked baggage. Researchers continue to try and find safer alternatives, though none have come to market just yet.
