The global environment has passed another horrible milestone in the recent year. The global sea ice levels are showing the lowest level ever recorded. The U.S National Snow & Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado has made a new research and indicated that the average winter buildup of floating ice around the arctic will not be happened this year. It might not be particularly due to the global warming. There are number of debates that the 1 degree temperature on the Earth has rise over the last century and it drastically affected the sea ice levels over the last couple of decades. In the month of December 2016, the researchers have found a huge part of the West Antarctic ice sheet breaking off from the rest of the shelf. The researchers indicated that at least 225 square mile piece of the Pine Island Glacier has been affected badly.

It is important that an atmospheric twist have assumingly participated in diminutive ice buildup last year. The researchers also experienced a drop off in the amount of arctic winds in the month of November 2016. It allowed comparatively warmer air to gather near the Northern pole and obstruct ice formation. All the warm air sitting in the arctic pushes out the cold air, so most parts of the Europe and Asia have experienced colder weather than a normal winter season in the recent year. The British Antarctic Survey climatologist, John Turner said that it has been considered a very extra-ordinary month. The month showed relatively unexpected but small changes in the winds that can reflect a massive impact on sea ice.
