4 Skype Seats added for Press Briefings by the White House

The White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has announced in a press briefing on Monday 23rd January that the new administration of White House has planned to open up 4 seats in the current week (called Skype Seats) for the reporters outside the Washington, DC. Spicer said that the White House has planned to open up the briefing room for journalists living 50 miles away from the Washington, DC area. He further explained that this virtual access of 4 Skype Seats will offer news outlets without issuance of press passes or due to a lack of financial resources for travelling to avail a chance for attending news sessions at White House.

Spicer further said in press briefing that “I think it would give benefits to more journalists by providing a platform to voices that aren’t essentially bases here in the Beltway. The announcement of online access via 4 Skype Seats was made just after one week of the reports mentioned that the U.S President Donald Trump has planned to move the press conferences at the next door to the White House, the Executive Office Building. Some readers assumed that it means as a limited access to the White House. The chief of staff in the White House, Reince Priebus also indicated that this move was made to accommodate more people in the press briefing at the White House.
